Turns out we’re ok at saving, but pretty terrible at putting those savings to good use.
That’s why Closing the Gap is here – we’d like to see more women to invest money, so that it grows, outpaces inflation, and provides security and opportunities in the future.
We understand investing can be pretty daunting for beginners (or those of us in the “beginning-ish” stage), so we’ve been running some interactive workshops to get the conversation started about why and how women should invest.
The majority of your questions have been about shares, so join us for our next workshop: Shares 101
This will cover:
- What is a share
- How does a share market work
- What makes share prices go up and down
- What is diversification and how do I get it
- Where can I get shares from in New Zealand
We will have guest speaker Felicity Gibson from NZX coming to share her experience (pun intended). Felicity is currently Head of Clearing at NZX Limited, responsible for teams working across the pre and post trade operations of the market. She has a background in law and financial markets, and is a qualified lawyer. Prior to her current role she oversaw the Issuer Regulation team at NZX, as well as working in legal roles in the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK; HSBC UK; Financial Markets Authority in New Zealand and Meridian Energy Limited.
There’ll also be plenty of chance to interact and chat with other women who are also wanting to take charge of their money.
5:30 – 9:00pm, Tuesday 28th May 2019
Drinks, nibbles & a light dinner provided.
Kindly hosted by Deloitte.
